Musical Director: Stewart Lewins

Stewart Lewins began his musical journey as a child when he joined the Scouts. He learned to play the trumpet and was then able to join the Scouts' band. Making quick progress, he was soon invited to join his local brass band, The Hangleton Band where he played solo cornet and later percussion.

For a couple of years before moving away to Bath to study music at university, Stewart was given the opportunity to conduct Brighton's award-winning Fretful Federation Mandolin Orchestra. After graduating he was appointed as MD to Midsomer Norton and Radstock Silver Band and regularly conducted Filton Concert Brass. At this time he also taught brass and percussion locally and in independent schools in Bristol.

In 2008 Stewart relocated to Reading and now has a busy schedule of teaching and conducting as playing solo cornet in Sandhurst Silver Band. He is currently the MD to both Pangbourne and Tadley brass bands and to the 103rd Reading Wind Band. He is also a member of the teaching staff of Henley Music School, for whom he conducts the children's choir and the adult group Henley Youthful Orchestra.
